In astrology the three earth signs, Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn, summarize all that makes up the physical or material plane.
Taurus is raw, atomic, primal, and undifferentiated matter and serves as the basis or foundation for the other two earth signs.
Virgo is organized, organic, systemic, or living matter which can be in any form, such as a tree, flower, animal, or human being.
Capricorn is also systemic, but on a much larger or universal scale, such as a mountain, continent, moon, planet, star, galaxy,
or even the entire material creation itself.
There are 36 possible planet placements in the earth signs or one fouth of the total 144(12 planets x 12 signs). Twelve are in Taurus,
twelve are in Virgo, and twelve are in Capricorn.
Venus, Mercury, Moon, Sun, Vulcan, Earth, Pluto, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Mars in Taurus describe the twelve states or conditions
of basic matter whether atomic, molecular, or cellular, or gaseous, liquid, or solid.
Vulcan, Earth, Pluto, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Moon, and Sun in Virgo describle the twelve kingdoms or basic
organisms of life from simple one-celled organisms to humans and beyond.
Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Sun, Vulcan, Earth, Pluto, and Jupiter in Capricorn describe the twelve heiarchies or
groupings of terrestial and cosmic systems, from districts and cities and states and countries to continents and planets and stars and galaxies.
These 36 placements describe or summarize our physical plane in much more detail and help us to understand its place in the overall scheme of
the elements.
Venus in Taurus, for example, describes matter of the purest and most solid kind like soil and rock whereas Mars in Taurus describes lava or
fired and heated rock, and Mercury in Taurus describes dust or wind-swept matter, and so on.
It is not my place or ability to delineate these specific correlations, but to offer a beginning guideline for such. It is hoped that
others more able can make the various connections or distinctions between various earth sign placemnents and their corresponding physical
representations.
